The Business Crime Reduction Centre (BCRC) is a partnership between Yorkshire-based charity, People United Against Crime and South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Humberside Police forces. BCRC is part financed by the European Union through the Yorkshire and Humber European Regional Development Fund Programme 2007-2013.
The challenge
BCRC required a series of video animations that could be used on its website, at events and on social media to raise awareness of Fraud Prevention, Cybercrime and Physical Security and the free and impartial crime reduction advice BCRC provides to small and medium sized businesses.
The approach
Led by both HMA’s lead Video Specialist and Head of Design, we were able to bring over 30 years combined experience in video production, animation, digital design and illustration to the project.
Firstly, to gain a better understanding of the business and its services, HMA met with one of BCRC’s specially trained Police Community Support Officers which enabled us to put forward suggestions as to how we would approach the animations. Working closely with the BCRC team, a storyboard was drafted that would get the main messages across clearly and concisely across five different animations: an Introduction to the BCRC (full version), an Introduction to the BCRC (shorter version), Property Theft, Fraud, and Cybercrime.
The animations were produced in stages for comment and compiled in the final versions, along with a music sound track, voiceover and text overlays.
The result
The animations were launched at a conference on 5th June 2014 to show attendees how reducing crime can boost their business.
We look forward to sharing more results with you soon.
